The latest Overwatch patch introduced Ashe to the live servers, but it also gave Winston’s Tesla Cannon a new animation that’s confusing some players.
Winston’s new weapon animations illuminates whatever it strikes, which is throwing some players for a loop, according to various Overwatch players on Twitter.
For example, if an enemy Winston shoots his cannon at an allied Winston’s shield, it will make the shield look like the enemy’s.

Teammates also look like they’re burning from Ashe’s Dynamite, which can be especially confusing during team fights, according to Slovak Overwatch player Patrik ‘BlueX’ Papšo.

These changes are especially confusing for support players, who could think players under attack by Winston might need more healing then they actually do.
New Winston effects are super confusing (during teamfight mainly), friendly bubbles look like from enemy and friendly players look like burning (from ashes nade) when being zapped by enemy winston… (1st is friendly bubble). pic.twitter.com/d3vbuZjlkY

Blizzard has yet to comment on the changes, which seem intentional, but weren’t mentioned in the recent Patch Notes at all.
If even Overwatch League players like Numlocked are questioning the changes though, Blizzard will probably address the changes soon.
