Former Dallas Fuel player Félix ‘xQc’ Lengyel has revealed how tough it was to deal with the aftermath of his removal from the Overwatch League.
xQc joined the Fuel at the start of the inaugural season but following multiple controversies and a second suspension from competition he parted ways with the team before the end of Stage 2.
During a recent stream, xQc commented on the consequences of his inauspicious exit from the league. Though the controversy surrounding him at the time generated a short-term boost in views on his stream – which was already one of the most popular in Overwatch – it had a negative effect on his relationships with other people and entities in the industry.
“The orgs didn’t like me anymore, they cut communication with me. Twitch didn’t like me at all, they were scared . . . everyone was scared of me. I was like a monster. I was just streaming, and nobody would talk to me. It was like I was like a leper.”

xQc never returned to the Overwatch League in Season One, but he is set to step onto a competitive stage once again as he competes for Team Canada in the Overwatch World Cup. He will be part of the seven-man squad that will fight for qualification through the USA group stage, taking place at the Blizzard Arena in California on September 7-9.
It remains to be seen whether xQc will compete in Season Two of the Overwatch League, but with several new teams joining it’s hard to imagine that a player as talented and popular as xQc, even considering his controversial history, wouldn’t be able to find a spot if he really wants to.
