While you can catch wild Pals in Palworld, you can also combine them to breed creatures with specific attributes.

Not only is the breeding process fast, but it’s also a great way to unlock new variants and get some of those Pals that may be too powerful for you to catch around.

Some combos will give you standard results, but others will create Fusion Pals – exceptional creatures that are ideal Mounts or for working in your base.

It’s worth experimenting with Palworld’s breeding system, so below you’ll find a combos list alongside our recommendations for the best ones in the base game as well as in the Sakurajima update.

Fusion Pals & breeding combos list

The Fusion Pals listed above range from relatively achievable, early-game choices to endgame behemoths that should give you the edge in some of the game’s more formidable content and boss fights.

Best Fusion Pal combos in Palworld

Currently, the best breeding combos are Astegon, Frostallion Noct, and Jormuntide Ignis.

Frostallion Noct

At the moment, there’s only one Legendary Fusion combination that actually alters the original into an entirely new Pal.

Combining Frostallion and Helzephyr should result in Frostallion Noct, the guardian deity of the Palpagos Island and an absolute Dark-type behemoth. It may well be the strongest overall Pal in the game, though the other Legendaries are all powerful in their own right.

Astegon

Once you reach level 40, you can get yourself a Suzaku and pair it with a Relaxaurus to breed Astegon, one of the toughest Pals around with a rare Dragon/Dark typing, and an excellent Level 4 Mining Work Suitability.

As it appears as a level 48 Alpha Pal, it’s wiser to just breed at your base.

Jormuntide Ignis

Jormuntide Ignis is a fantastic Fusion Pal. As a legendary variant of Jormuntide, this Dragon can enhance Fire attacks when Mounted. it’s also got a Level 4 Work suitability for Kindling which comes in handy if you need any cooking or Ore refining done at your base.

If you can get your hands on this Pal by breeding a Jormuntide and Blazehowl, you absolutely should.

What is breeding in Palworld?

Breeding involves mixing two existing Pals to create an Egg that will hatch either a standard or Fusion Pal, which can inherit beneficial traits and occasionally change types, allowing players to tailor their lineup strategically.

It’s possible to breed any Pal of the opposite gender, with the resultant offspring becoming one of the two parent breeds with a combination of the parent’s traits. Fusion pairs create entirely new pals with an amalgamated appearance of the two parents.

How to build a Breeding Farm

Before you can breed Pals in Palworld, though, you’ll need a Breeding Farm which will unlock once you’ve reached Level 19, costing 2 Technology Points. To build the farm, you’ll need the following materials:

  • x50 Fiber
  • x100 Wood
  • x20 Stone

After the Breeding Farm is up and running, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got some Cake as every Fusion Pal requires x1 Cake. You can craft it using the following ingredients and then simply placing it in a Cooking Pot:

  • x5 Flour
  • x8 Red Berries
  • x8 Eggs
  • x7 Milk
  • x2 Honey

Now you’ve got everything you need, follow the steps below to go through the breeding process on your farm:

  1. Throw the two Pals of your choice into the Breeding Farm.
  2. Put the Cake in the box that’s outside the Breeding Farm (on the right side).
  3. Wait until the timer is done (you can go do other stuff while waiting).
  4. Grab the Egg, put it in an Incubator, and hatch it.

If you plan to breed a ton of combos, we’d recommend setting up a Wheat Plantation, a Mill, and a Honey Farm at your base so you don’t run out of Cake ingredients that can be harder to come by.

How to hatch Eggs

To hatch eggs, you’ll need an Egg Incubator that unlocks when you reach Level 7 and requires 2 Ancient Technology Points.

You can craft the Egg Incubator with these materials:

  • x10 Paldium Fragment
  • x5 Cloth
  • x30 Stone
  • x2 Ancient Civilization Parts

Once you’ve placed an Egg in the Incubator you just need to wait for it to hatch! Depending on the Egg characteristics, the time necessary for it to hatch will vary. You can build as many Incubators as you want, however, so multiple eggs can hatch at the same time.

If you meet the Egg’s comfort levels, you can speed up the hatching process. For example, if certain Eggs get cold, place a Heater, campfire, or Electric Heater close by.
