A talented Pokemon artist shared their stunning model animation of the Pokedex, bringing the iconic device to life like never before. The creation is so good, it will have players almost believing the RPG is real.
Pokemon has captured the imaginations of kids and adults from around the world since its debut in 1996. The Japanese title has continued to be one of Nintendo’s most popular franchises as its infectious gameplay to “catch ’em all” has never gotten old.
However an incredibly skilled artist has made fans’ dreams come true and brought items from the RPG to life with insanely gorgeous 3D renders. From the Pokedex to Pokeballs, it’s almost if they jumped from out of the Game Boy itself.
Artist brings the Pokedex to life
While the iconic Pokedex has taken many forms across its eight generations, one thing that has always stayed constant is its purpose. A core aspect of the game’s design is the players task of filling out the device by capturing every Pokemon in the region.
Artist Mario Arnone shared his jaw dropping rendering of the item on Reddit, which exploded in popularity with over 15.8k upvotes at the time of writing. The incredible art took inspiration from the Generation I design.

The amount of detail in the animation model is astonishing, even creating the back label which reads “POKEDEX MK 1” and other spec details. As the red device spins, we get a glimpse of what it would look like in real life.

Over on Reddit the talented artist answered questions from fans, and explained his process. He uses software Rhinoceros, Cinema 4D, and Octane to bring his creations together.

This is not the first time the Canadian artist has given us an idea of what Pokemon could look like if it were real. In May 2019, he posted a video of Pokeball being charged in a portable healing station, and even included the sound of the monster’s HP and PP being replenished as the item flickers with light.

Mario hasn’t only rendered objects in the popular RPG’s universe, but has even brought Pokemon to life themselves. In February 2019, he rendered Magneton, the second evolution of Magnemite. As the three magnets hover together, electricity shoots across them in the mind blowing recreation.

While it’s been over 23 years since Pokemon made its debut, the Nintendo series has gone on to become a cultural phenomena. In 2019 it was named the highest grossing media franchise of all time.
The RPG’s eighth generation kicked off in November 2019 with Sword & Shield, which saw trainers tackling the Galar Region. The latest title introduced players to Max-Raids and The Wild area, proving the property is here to stay for many more years.
