The ancient double Dragon/Fighting-type Kommo-o is one of the hardest Pokemon to get in Pokemon Go, as you can only obtain it by evolving a Jangmo-o. If you happen to do so, here is its best moveset and whether or not it’s even worth the trouble.
Kommo-o is considered one of the most difficult Pokemon to get in Pokemon Go, as the only way to acquire one is by evolving Jangmo-o to its third and final evolution stage, which requires a total of 125 candies.
The biggest problem is that Jangmo-o is already a rare spawn and players can only obtain it through 10km Eggs (with very slim odds) and in the wild only while using the Daily Adventure Incense.
Luckily for players, their odds of getting a Kommo-o will be increased from February 5, 2024 at 10 AM until Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 8 PM local time thanks to the Pokemon Go Lunar New Year 2024 event, which will feature Jangmo-o as a wild encounter alongside other ‘mons.
So, if you’re determined to get yourself a Kommo-o or you’re one of the persistent players that already got one, here’s everything you need to know about this ancient creature’s moveset in the game.
Kommo-o general stats in Pokemon Go
This dual Dragon/Fighting-type Pokemon has an attack-based stat spread of 222 (ATK), 240 (DEF), and 181 (STAT), and can reach a max CP value of 3309 in Pokemon Go.
Due to its typing, Kommo-o is vulnerable to Flying, Psychic, Ice, and Dragon-type moves taking double damage, and it’s especially weak to Fairy-type attacks which deal quadruple damage. However, it has 7 type resistances to compensate.
Best moveset for Kommo-o
The best moveset players can use for Kommo-o in Pokemon Go consists of Dragon Tail as a Fast Move and Boomburst as a Charged Move, with 14.42 damage per second, with an extra 500.2 damage before it faints.
Even though Boomburst is a Normal-type move and doesn’t benefit from the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB) which deals 20% more damage, it’s still the best choice for a Charged Move as it deals a whooping 140 hit and gets a boost from Partly Cloudy weather.

All moves Kommo-o can learn
This pseudo legendary ‘mon has two Fast Moves and four Charged Moves available in its pool, which has a wide range covering five different types.
Kommo-o Fast Moves
- Dragon Tail (Dragon/STAB)
- Poison Jab (Poison)
Kommo-o Charged Moves
- Flamethrower (Fire)
- Dragon Claw (Dragon/STAB)
- Close Combat (Fighting/STAB)
- Boomburst (Normal)
Is Kommo-o any good in Pokemon Go?
Kommo-o has a relatively unique type combination which could turn it into a huge threat in the game. Unfortunately, not having the physical Dragon-type move Ourage available in its move pool, plus its low ATK stat and the double weakness it has towards the Fairy type doesn’t help its case.
Out of the three leagues in Pokemon Go, it performs relatively well only in Ultra League thanks to its fast-paced attacks. However, Kommo-o is not a bulky or strong ‘mon, so won’t be able to endure long battles.
