Bulbasaur, Ivysaur & Venusaur

Number 1 in the Pokedex and in our hearts, Bulbasaur’s evolution line is a Grass/Poison-type that (vine) whips. The Kanto Starters were the first ones to appear in 1-Star Max Raids when the Go Big event kicked off.

Charmander, Charmeleon & Charizard

Cheeky chappy Charmander is a Fire-type with a burning desire to battle, as well as its two evolutions. If you want to take it down, be sure to bring some strong Water-type Pokemon like Squirtle or Sobble.

Squirtle, Wartortle & Blastoise

The hero in a half shell, Squirtle is a Water-type Pokemon with some great defensive capabilities. Bring a strong Grass-type like Grookey to whittle down its health and catch one for yourself so you can evolve it into Wartortle and eventually the mighty Blastoise.

Skwovet & Greedent

Get ready to go nuts for Skwovet, the Normal-type squirrel from Galar. While there are no Fighting-type Dynamax Pokemon yet, Cinderace can use Focus Blast to deal super-effective damage against Skwovet.

Wooloo & Dubwool

Another Normal-type and an adorable fluffy cloud, Wooloo should be simple to take down with some powerful Fighting-type moves, or by just grinding it down. It’s cute, but it’s not very strong.

Beldum, Metang & Metagross

The first new Dynamax Pokemon to be introduced after the feature was added was the Beldum line, which made its debut in September 2024’s Psychic Spectacular event. The Steel/Psychic-type family is known for being powerful, and Dynamax Beldum is the first Pokemon to be fought in a 3-Star Max Battle.

Fortunately, Beldum is weak to Dark, Fire, Ghost, and Ground moves, and it’s possible to solo the battle.

Grookey, Thwackey & Rillaboom

Galar’s Grass-type starter, Grookey is one cheeky monkey and an adorable addition to the Pokedex. These first-stage evolutions aren’t quite as powerful as the likes of Charizard, but if you want to make things easier, take down this Grass-type with a Fire-type and then evolve it to its third stage.

Scorbunny, Raboot & Cinderace

A brilliant bunny full of spark, Scorbunny is the Fire-type starter for Galar and is also just very cute. Use some Water-type Pokemon to take him down, so bring yourself a Blastoise or Sobble and you can defeat this hectic hare in no time.

Sobble, Drizzile & Inteleon

Objectively the best Galar starter, Sobble is a Water-type lizard who is as powerful as shy. If you want to add a Dynamax version to your party, be sure to bring a Grass-type Pokemon like Grookey or Venusaur.

Also joining Pokemon Go on October 1, 2024, is Dynamax Falinks, a Fighting-type Pokemon from the Galar region. Falinks appears in 3-star Max Battles, presenting more of a challenge for trainers.

If you managed to catch a Dynamax Beldum, its Psychic moves should give you an advantage here. Otherwise, a Charizard with Flying-type moves is your best bet for taking Dynamax Falinks down with super-effective attacks.

Gastly, Haunter & Gengar

One of the most popular evolution lines in Pokemon history made its way into Pokemon Go Max Battles during the Halloween 2024 Part I event. To get Dynamax Gengar players must defeat and capture Dynamax Gastly first and the only way to do it (for now) is by using a Beldum, Metang, or Metagross.

Drilbur & Excadrill

Dynamax Drilbur is about to debut in Pokemon Go with the Simply Groundbreaking event, which will kick off on November 15. As a pure Ground-type creature, players can use any Water or Grass Pokemon (such as Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Sobble, or Grookey) to defeat Drilbur in battle.

Toxtricity

Both Amped and Low Key forms of Toxtricity will debut in Pokemon Go during the Go Wild Area event on November 23, 2024. The battle won’t be easy, but you can get an advantage by taking Dynamax Metagross or Dynamax Excadrill to battle.

Gigantamax Venusaur

The powerful Venusaur is the first Pokemon to get its Gigantamax form in Pokemon Go’s new Max Battles. Trainers will have to team up with 10 to 40 players to be able to take down this mighty beast in 6-Star Max Raids, and the best way to secure a victory is to go with full Fire types. Flying, Psychic, and Ice Pokemon can help too.

Gigantamax Charizard

Similar to Venusaur, players will have a hard time defeating such a strong Pokemon as fan favorite Charizard. The best strategy to go up against this mighty dual Fire/Flying creature is to use a team filled with Water, Electric, or Rock Pokemon.

Gigantamax Blastoise

The third Kanto starter also made its way into Pokemon Go, and those looking to take it down must focus on building a team with mainly Grass and Electric-type creatures to target Gigantamax Blatoise’s weaknesses.

Gigantamax Gengar

As one of the most beloved Pokemon in the franchise, it was only logical that one of the first Gigantamax Pokemon to be introduced in Niantic’s game would be Gengar. To defeat this incredibly strong creature, you should take Dynamax Metagross or a powered up Dynamax Gengar to the encounter.

Gigantamax Toxtricity

Along with Dynamax Toxtricity, Gigantamax Toxtricity will also be introduced during the Go Wild Area event on November 23, 2024. The battle will be extremely difficult, as this Gigantamax Pokemon will appear as a 6-Star Max Battle boss.
