Mega Gyarados weaknesses in Pokemon Go
Fortunately, Mega Gyarados’ dual Water/Dark typing makes it weak to a number of types such as Electric, Grass, Fighting, Bug, or Fairy-type moves, so players should bring these into battle to have the best chance of winning.
On the other hand, this powerful creature is resistant to a long list of types, including Ghost, Steel, Fire, Water, Ice, Dark, and Psychic-type attacks, so avoid them at all costs as they won’t deal much damage.

How to get Mega Gyarados in Pokemon Go
As with any other Mega Evolution, players can only obtain Mega Gyarados by gathering 300 Mega Energy and using it in regular Gyarados. After you’ve done this once, the cost will drop to 60 Mega Energy and so on.
Players can obtain Mega Energy by defeating Mega Evolved Pokemon in Mega Raids or by completing specific Research Tasks during events.
Mega Gyarados will appear as a Mega Raid Boss from Saturday, June 1, 2024, until Monday, June 10, 2024, when it will be replaced by Mega Alakazam.
Can Mega Gyarados be Shiny in Pokemon Go?
Yes, Mega Gyarados can be Shiny in Pokemon Go, as this variation was added to the game on the same day the Mega Pokemon debuted in 2021.
As you can’t catch Mega Pokemon, you’ll need to be lucky enough to find a Shiny Gyarados with its iconic red tone and then earn enough Mega Energy to Mega Evolve it.
