Tyrunt, the tiny T-Rex lookalike, is being featured in the Pokemon Go Adventure Week 2024 event, so here’s exactly how to catch it and whether or not you’ll be lucky enough to find its Shiny version.
This adorable Rock/Dragon-type dinosaur is a fossil Pokemon that originally appeared in the Kalos region along with fellow fossil Amaura and since they made it into Pokemon Go, they’ve been considered rare spawns.
Luckily for players, the Adventure Week event has returned to Niantic’s game with a focus on fossils, giving you the perfect chance to capture and evolve Tyrunt, and even hunt its Shiny form. so, here’s all you need to know.
How to get Tyrunt in Pokemon Go
There are four different ways players can find Tyrunt in Pokemon Go right now:
- As a wild encounter.
- As a hatch from a 10 km Egg.
- As a hatch from a 7 km Egg (during the Adventure Week 2024 event).
- As a reward for completing a Special Research Task (Adventure Week 2024 event).
Tyrunt will be featured in the Adventure Week 2024 event that will take place from August 2, 2024, until August 12, 2024. During this time players will have the opportunity to spot Tyrunt in the wild or hatch it from 7 km Eggs, as well as having an increased chance to find its Shiny version.
Previously, players could get Tyrunt as a reward for completing other Research Tasks such as “Spin 10 PokeStops” or “Walk 5 km: Adventure Week 2022”.
Can Tyrunt be Shiny in Pokemon Go?
Yes, Shiny Tyrunt is available in Pokemon Go as it debuted in the game during the Adventure Week event that took place in 2023.

Players looking for Shiny Tyrunt should take advantage of this year’s Adventure Week event, as the odds of finding Tyrunt’s Shiny form will be increased. They can easily recognize it by its blue color, which is very different from its usual brown tone.
How to evolve Tyrunt into Tyrantrum in Pokemon Go
As a two-member family, Tyrunt’s evolution is quite straightforward, as there’s only one step to get through it. However, there’s a tiny catch.
To evolve Tyrunt into Tyrauntrum, you must feed it 50 Tyrunt Candy, however, for the evolution process to work you have to make sure you’re triggering it during the day.
If you’re struggling to earn enough Candy, remember to use regular or Silver Pinap Berries. You can also walk with Tyrunt as your Buddy or send your extra specimens to Professor Willow.
