In Pokemon Go, the Zygrade Cells can change Zygarde’s form, but how exactly do you find these handy evolution resources in the game? Here’s all you need to know to get Zygarde’s 50% and Full Forme.
First seen in Pokemon X & Y’s Kalos region, the Dragon/Ground-type Legendary Pokemon Zygarde made its Pokemon Go debut as a reward for working your way through the From A to Zygarde Special Research quest.
As a three-form Pokemon, it will require Zygarde Cells to go from 10% to 50% and then Full Forme. So, if you want one of the most powerful creatures in the game, here’s how to get enough Zygarde Cells to get yourself a Complete Forme Zygarde in Niantic’s mobile game.
How to get Zygarde Cells
Zygarde Cells in Pokemon Go can only be obtained using the Routes feature in the game.
This feature includes mapped roads that have been created by other trainers to encourage you to explore the local area with bonuses along the way. You can also create your own Routes once you’ve unlocked the feature.
Following Routes in Pokemon Go
Here’s how you can join Routes in the game:
- Open Pokemon Go and tap on the ‘Nearby’ menu at the bottom right.
- Tap the screen and slide your finger to the left to move from the Pokemon tab to the ‘Route’ tab.
- Press ‘See nearby routes’ to see all the user-generated Routes available.
- Select the one you want to follow (you can see the distance, time, and other useful information if you tap on them).
- Once you’ve picked one, press ‘Follow’.
- Walk to the starting point shown (a PokeStop or Gym) and follow the highlighted Route.
- Follow the Route from start to finish to collect Zygarde Cells.
Zygarde Cells are small and quite easy to miss, especially while you’re focusing on following your Route or taking in what’s happening around you in the real world. The most important thing is that you tap on them as they aren’t automatically collected.

It’s worth noting that Zygarde Cells are quite rare in the game. And, there are some catches to how to get these items. For example, there’s a cap of three Zygarde Cells per day. Additionally, these items can only be found during the first run of a route on a particular day.
What are Zygarde Cells used for?
Zygarde Cells are used solely to change the form of Zygarde, making it more powerful in the process. You’ll need to collect 50 Zygarde Cells to reach 50% Forme and a further 200 Zygarde Cells to reach 100% Forme.
This is probably going to take you a long time to achieve, but it’s definitely worth the effort, as 100% Forme Zygarde is one of the most powerful fighters in the Ultra League and Master League formats.
How often do Zygarde Cells spawn in Pokemon Go?
Gathering the required amount of Zygarde Cells to reach Complete Forme Zygarde is quite a difficult task as players can only collect a maximum of three Zygarde Cells per day in Pokemon Go.
More so, they are really hard to find, and following a Route doesn’t mean that you’ll get one – or more – for sure. Just remember to never repeat Routes, as they only appear on unexplored roads.
