There are plenty of bird Pokemon in the hit mobile game Pokemon Go, and while you can catch Pidgey just about everywhere, there are a few elusive avian creatures you will struggle to find.
An adorable vulture Pokemon, Vullaby was introduced to the Pokemon franchise in Gen 5 as Rufflet’s counterpart. Although this small bird poses no threat, its evolution Mandibuzz is fairly impressive in both Pokemon Go Great and Ultra League.
While Vullaby is normally quite rare in Pokemon Go, mostly appearing only in Eggs, it is seeing a resurgence thanks to the latest Pokemon Go Legendary Heroes event. So, it’s easier than ever to add this beloved bird to your Pokemon collection. So, let us show you how.
How to get Vullaby in Pokemon Go
The tiny vulture has been part of the hot mobile game since 2020, and thanks to the Legendary Heroes event here are all the ways you can currently get Vullaby in Pokemon Go:
- As a wild encounter.
- In 12 km Eggs.
- As a reward for completing the Legendary Heroes Timed Research: Shield Path tasks
At the time of writing, Vullaby is one of the Timed research encounters players can earn during the Legendary Heroes event. However, players are given the choice of either the Sword or Shield path, and they must choose Shield to get an encounter with Vullaby.
Choosing Sword means that players instead get an encounter with Rufflet.
Once the event is over, players will only be able to get Vullaby as a hatch from 12 km Eggs.

How to evolve Vullaby into Mandibuzz
The evolution process for Vullaby is quite simple, as it only has one stage, and it doesn’t need any special items, requirements, or Buddy tasks.
To evolve Vullaby into Mandibuzz, players need to feed it 50 Candy.
Due to how tedious it is to get Vullaby regularly, players should take advantage of the event and catch as many as they can. Remember that you can duplicate your Candy with Pinap Berries.
Can Vullaby be Shiny?
Yes, Shiny Vullaby is available in Pokemon Go. It debuted in the game at the start of the A Looming Shadow Returns! event back in 2021.
The differences between regular and Shiny are not too distinctive, as the only change is the color saturation. However, it can be really appreciated once you evolve Shiny Vullaby into Shiny Mandibuzz, as even its chest fur will change.
That’s everything you need to know about Vullaby, its evolution, and the Shiny version in Pokemon Go. For more game content on the latest events, check out our guides on Pokemon Go Community Day, Spotlight Hour, and catch up on the Max Out season.
