Pokemon Go‘s Routes is a feature that gives trainers some helpful bonuses for exploring their surroundings by following a traced path. Here are all the details about this mechanic.
Niantic is constantly providing Pokemon Go players with new content, like special events, Raid rotations, the Spotlight Hour, Community Days, PokeStop Showcases, and more.
Routes were originally added to Pokemon Go during the Blaze New Trials event and remained in the game ever since. This feature delivers a new element to gameplay and can also provide players with exciting bonuses when made. So, here’s exactly how to make Routes in Pokemon Go.
How to make a Route in Pokemon Go
Here’s what needs to be done in order to create a route in Pokemon Go:
- Open the game and tap on the menu at the bottom right corner.
- Slide to the ‘Route’ tab.
- Press ‘Create a New Route’.
- On the map, choose a PokeStop or Gym to be your starting point.
- Do the same for your endpoint.
- Tap ‘Confirm and Proceed’.
- Walk to the starting point, tap on the PokeStop or Gym, and press ‘Start Recording’.
- Navigate the Route (from start to finish) to record the path.
- Once you make it to the end, tap the PokeStop or Gym and press ‘Choose End Point’ and then ‘End’.
- Fill out some info about your Route, then submit it for review.
- Once accepted, Trainers can follow your Route!
Each Route has to be submitted for review before it can actually be implemented into the game for other players to see, so make sure your Route is as fleshed out and polished as possible before submitting it.
Routes criteria
There are certain requirements Pokemon Go players must follow while creating their Routes so they can be successfully accepted by Niantic:
- Each Route must be at least 0.5 km
- A Route cannot be longer than 20 km
- A Route must follow a safe area and not go through private property
- Routes must have a clear description and theme to be accepted.
