A brand new event has been confirmed for Pokemon Go – the Extraordinary Raid Week will bring new raid bosses, bonuses and shiny Pokemon.
Extraordinary Raid Week
The special raid week event follows on from the Detective Pikachu event where you can catch Pokemon that appear in the film and even catch Detective Pikachu himself.
Before the Extraordinary Raid Week starts though, the Pokemon Go May Community Day, which is headlined by Torchic, will take place this weekend.
The special raid week event starts at 1pm PDT, May 21, 2019 and last for exactly one week. The Extraordinary Raid week comprises of different raid bosses for the week, a return of the special raid hour and a Lapras raid day.
Raid bosses for the week are as follows:
- Tier one: Machop, Slakoth, Shinx, Bronzor
- Tier two: Misdreavus, Kirlia, Mawile, Feebas, Clamperl, Bibarel
- Tier three: Alolan Raichu, Chansey, Scyther, Aerodactyl, Floatzel
- Tier four: Alolan Marowak, Dragonite, Tyranitar, Absol, Metagross
Within these tiers there are some Pokemon well-worth having. The tier four Pokemon are especially strong with Dragonite, Tyranitar and Metagross all useful in the current Pokemon Go meta.
Additionally, of these Pokemon, you may encounter a shiny Bronzor.
The bonuses for this week are 2x Raid Stardust and 2x Raid XP.

Legendary raid hour
The popular legendary raid hour returns for a third time. Previously the hour long period where raid battles become more frequent was available as the “Legendary lunch hour”. These took place on March 13 and April 10.

The difference this time is that it won’t take place during lunchtime but in the evening between 6pm and 7pm local time. It will stay on a Wednesday though with this latest one beginning on May 22.
Niantic confirmed that “The number of raids of all levels will increase during the event hour.”
Lapras raid day
The final part of the Extraordinary Raid Week is the Lapras raid day which takes place on May 25 (May 26 for Asia-Pacific) and runs from 11am to 2pm local time.
The popular transport Pokemon brings some excellent stamina stats, which are useful for defending gyms.
As part of the event, five free raid passes will be available and there is even the chance of encountering a shiny Lapras.
