A number of new Gigantamax forms along with their G-Max moves have been revealed for Pokemon Sword and Shield, and they’re all from the Kanto region.
Gigantamaxing takes the Dynamaxing phenomenon even further and not only makes the Pokemon massive but adds a powerful new G-Max move, also. Unlike Dynamaxing, just certain species of Pokemon can Gigantamax.
In addition to the likes of Alcremie, Corviknight and Drednaw — the following have now been added to the list of species that have Gigantamax capabilities:
- Pikachu
- Eevee
- Charizard
- Butterfree
- Meowth
It’s not overly surprising the face of Pokemon, Pikachu, and other popular Kanto species have been given a featured role in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
Alongside the Pokemon themselves, their respective G-Max moves and what they do were also revealed.
- Pikachu – G-Max Volt Crash: Paralyzes all opponents
- Eevee – G-Max Cuddle: Opposite gender opponents become infatuated
- Charizard – G-Max Wildfire: All non-fire types take damage for four turns
- Butterfree – G-Max Befuddle: Causes poison, paralysis or asleep status
- Meowth – G-Max Gold Rush: Confuses all targets and earns an in-game cash bonus
You can receive Gigantamax Pikachu and Eevee by using play records from Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokemon Let’s Go, Eevee! respectively.

Pokemon initially teased new Pokemon Sword and Shield details on October 15.
Many trainers will be satisfied with the new Gigantamax information but there are some who are desperate to hear more about the Galar region’s starter Pokemon.
We’ll have to wait and see whether any new details will be released about Grookey, Scorbunny or Sobble before the game is released on November 15.
