Pokemon Go has announced a new event coming in February 2024 called the Carnival of Love, which brings Shiny Oricorio’s debut, the chance to change Furfrou’s trim, and more.
Pokemon Go’s seasonal events continue into 2024, and with Valentine’s Day on the horizon, trainers are no doubt eager to see what event will coincide with it.
Now, Niantic has announced the Carnival of Love event, which features some handy event bonuses, Shiny Oricorio’s debut, and much more.
So, let’s break down everything fans can expect from the Carnival of Love event, including the wild spawns, Field Research tasks, and Collection challenge among other quests.
Pokemon Go Carnival of Love start date & time
According to the official blog post, Pokemon Go’s Carnival of Love event is set to run from Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 10 AM to Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 8 PM local time.
Pokemon Go Carnival of Love Shiny Oricorio debut
For the first time in Pokemon Go, trainers will be able to catch Shiny versions of each Oricorio Style. Of course, Oricorio’s different Styles are regional. Each corresponding Style and region can be found below:
- Baile Style Oricorio: Appearing in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa
- Pom-Pom Style Oricorio: Appearing in the Americas
- Pa’u Style Oricorio: Appearing in African, Asian, Pacific, and Caribbean islands
- Sensu Style Oricorio: Appearing in the Asia-Pacific region
Pokemon Go Carnival of Love Heart Trim Furfrou
For the duration of the event, trainers who’ve caught Furfrou will be able to change its Trim to the Heart Trim Form.
To do so, trainers need to follow these steps during the event:
- Find Furfrou in your Pokemon Storage, tap it to check its summary, and then tap the Change Form button to bring up a menu that lists the available trims.
- Select your preferred trim.
- Changing your Furfrou from one trim to any other trim will cost 25 Furfrou Candy and 10,000 Stardust.
Pokemon Go Carnival of Love Wild encounters
Trainers will be able to find the following Pokemon as wild spawns during the Carnival of Love event:
- Snubbul*
- Skitty*
- Luvdisc*
- Red Flower Flabebe (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa only)
- Blue Flower Flabebe (Asia-Pacific region only)
- Yellow Flower Flabebe (the Americas only)
- Furfrou*
- Baile Style Oricorio* (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa only)
- Pom-Pom Style Oricorio* (the Americas only)
- Pa’u Style Oricorio* (African, Asian, Pacific, and Caribbean islands only)
- Sensu Style Oricorio* (Asia-Pacific region only)
- Stufful*
- Quaxly

Pokemon Go Carnival of Love Field Research task encounters
Trainers can encounter the following Pokémon when they complete Field Research tasks:

Pokemon Go Carnival of Love Collection Challenge
The Carnival of Love event will feature a Collection Challenge that awards trainers with XP, Stardust, and an encounter with Roserade upon completion.

Pokemon Go Carnival of Love Paid Timed Research
The Carnival of Love event will offer trainers a paid Timed Research quest for $1 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency).
Trainers can earn the following rewards by taking on the Timed Research quest:
- Stardust, XP, and two Incense
- Five encounters with Spinda with a heart pattern
It’s important to note that as this is a Timed Research quest, it will expire. As such, rewards must be claimed before Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 8 PM local time or they will disappear.
Pokemon Go Carnival of Love bonuses
Trainers can expect the following bonuses to be active during the event:
- Increased chance of receiving Candy XL when walking with your buddy
- Two guaranteed Candy XL for evolving Pokemon
There will also be a new PokeStop Showcase available during the Carnival of Love event. Once again, trainers will be able to enter their biggest Buddy Pokemon into the Showcase.
Trainers in Brazil can expect an exclusive bonus during this event, which allows them to earn twice the XP for catching Pokemon.
Finally, a new Avatar Item will be available to purchase through the in-game shop: the Luvdisc Tambourine Pose.
