Niantic has earned praise from Pokemon Go players thanks to the safeguards put in place when deleting one’s account.
Oftentimes, Niantic is in the crosshairs of upset Pokemon Go players. Whether they remove Remote Raid Passes from weekly boxes or the lack of Shiny Pokemon found during an event, players find plenty of ways to complain.
But every once in a while, Niantic gives players content that’s hard to find fault with. Most recently, the Adventure Week event was hailed as one of the greatest in-game events in ages.
Now, players are once again singing the game’s praises as Niantic has implemented various safeguards during the account deletion process.
Accidental account deletion is impossible
Thanks to a recent update, players can now start the Pokemon Go account deletion process from inside the app. Whereas before, players would need to submit a request from players via the Niantic help center.
While the in-game process only has one confirmation screen, Reddit user GabeBit08 pointed out there was a second step required to fully delete one’s account. An email verification requires players to respond with a special code.

This ensures that players can’t accidentally delete their account with a few misplaced taps. And this level of safety earned Niantic the praise from concerned players.
“Everyone with a child who sometimes plays on their account is very glad for this feature,” one user commented. Another stated, “This is comforting. I really disliked the idea of this new feature because of the stress of accidentally deleting an account… Good to know that’s not really possible.”
While it may not be the most game-changing feature, it most certainly could be considered game-saving. And the praise from players confirms that this level of detail in such a simple process is appreciated.
