Over the years, Pokemon Go has introduced plenty of Mega Pokemon to the game. Since the mechanic’s introduction, fans have seen the inclusion of Mega Lucario, Mega Gengar, Mega Rayquaza, and many more.
Now, Pokemon Go has announced that Mega Kangaskhan will be returning to the game from August 12, 2024, until August 21, 2024. Let’s go over everything trainers need to know to defeat Mega Kangaskhan in these upcoming raids.
Mega Kangaskhan weaknesses in Pokemon Go
As a Normal-type Pokemon, Mega Kangaskhan is only weak to Fighting-type attacks. Therefore, trainers should only focus on training up strong Fighting-types to bring into this raid.
Similarly, Mega Kangaskhan is only resistant to one type: Ghost. Players should avoid bringing any Ghost-types into the raid, or Pokemon that have Ghost-type moves in their kit.
Mega Kangaskhan counters
Mega Kangaskhan is a pure normal type, and as such is resistant to ghost-type moves but weak to fighting-type moves, meaning a strong fighting-type Pokemon with two stab fighting moves is your best counter. At a high enough level – around 35/40 – just two or three trainers should be able to bring down the kangaroo Pokemon.

How to get Mega Kankaskhan in Pokemon Go
As mentioned above, Mega Kangaskhan will be returning to Pokemon Go from August 12, 2024, until August 21, 2024.

Once you defeat a Mega Kangaskhan Mega Raid, you will have a chance to catch a Kangaskhan and earn Mega Kangaskhan Mega Energy.
To transform your own Kangaskhan, you must collect 200 Mega Energy and use it on your chosen Kangaskhan (preferably one with good stats) to temporarily transform it into Mega Kangaskhan.
Doing so again is free after a certain amount of time, often a few days, or you can use more Mega Energy to transform it again quickly.
Can Mega Kangaskhan be Shiny in Pokemon Go?
Yes, Pokemon Go currently offers the opportunity to catch a shiny Kangaskhan.
If you defeat a Mega Kangaskhan, the Shiny encounter rate is slightly different. The Shiny encounter rate is higher after a Mega Raid than a normal encounter rate.
