Players are calling for a big change to the way Mythical Pokemon are handled in Pokemon Go, and there are plenty of others agreeing with the idea.
This comes after one Trainer called out the fact that Pokemon Go players cannot trade any Mythical Pokemon to other players, although Legendary Pokemon are not under the same restriction.
When Pokemon like Darkrai, Genesect, and Deoxys can all be caught and amassed thanks to Raids, it seems like there is little reason to stop players from trading them between themselves, as many have noted.
The topic came up in a Reddit post titled “Please let me trade Darkrai! I want to give my husband the Shiny.”
The author of the post explained their reasoning, saying, “I know it’s technically Mythical, but if we can raid for them, we should be allowed to trade! Don’t get me started on the Genesects!”
It’s a frustrating limitation, backed up by plenty of other comments, with one person saying, “My opinion as well. If it can be raided, why not traded?” Then another comment added, “Better yet if it can be transferred, it should be tradable.”
This brings up another issue for some people: the space needed to house all of these mythical Pokemon, especially for users that don’t send their Pokemon to Home or if they do not own Pokemon Scarlet or Violet.

A separate comment touches on this, saying, “Exactly! I have them sitting in my inventory just in case that ever changes, but ugh, the spaaaace!”
However, it’s not quite the same for all Pocket Monsters, Meltan and Melmetal are considered Mythical Pokemon, and these can be caught regularly using the Mystery Box item as well as traded and transferred.
As one player explains, “We know it’s just a per Pokemon toggle anyways, as Meltan and Melmetal don’t have any blocks on them.”
Fans are hoping to be able to trade some of the regularly available Pokemon, but sentiment points towards some of the more rare Mythical Pokemon like Shaymin staying as they are.
“My opinion the only Mythicals that shouldn’t be tradable are the ones you get from quests. Darkrai, Deoxys, etc. should be excluded. If it can be raided let it be traded” says one comment, before another excited person adds, “IF IT CAN BE RAIDED LET IT BE TRADED! Yes exactly!!”
