Pokemon Go‘s City Safari has returned in 2024 with festivities across two more cities for players to participate in.
Niantic ran one Safari Zone event back in March focused on Tainan (Taiwan) and then two more in September celebrated in Jakarta (Indonesia) and Incheon (South Korea).
This time around, the Pokemon Go City Safari event will take place in two new major cities and will include special spawns, Special Research Tasks, and a chance to encounter rare Pokemon.
Here’s what trainers need to know about the upcoming City Safari event.
Pokemon Go City Safari 2024 schedule
Here are all of the Pokemon Go City Safari events currently scheduled for 2024:

Last year, Niantic held the Safari Zone in Barcelona (Spain), Seoul (South Korea), and Mexico City (Mexico).
Pokemon Go City Safari 2024 ticket prices
A one-day Live Event ticket for the Hong Kong event costs US$ 10.00 or HKD78 (including applicable taxes and fees). For the São Paulo event, participants will have to pay R$45 for a single day.
Instead of buying one ticket for each day, players can purchase a general admission ticket for Saturday and then buy a special add-on for Sunday. The Citywide Gameplay add-on costs US$ 8.00 (or the equivalent price tier in your local currency).

City Safari ticket add-ons
Trainers looking to enhance their experience can purchase add-ons for extra bonuses that are not included with the general admission tickets.
Raid Lover (US$ 6.00)
- Up to 12 free Raid Passes per day by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms.
- Additional 5,000 XP from completed Raids.
- 3 additional Candy awarded for catching Pokemon in 5-Star Raids and Mega Raids.
- 1 additional Candy XL awarded for catching Pokemon in 5-Star Raids and Mega Raids (trainers Level 31+).
Egg-thusiast (US$ 6.00)
- 1/2 Egg hatch distance.
- 2x Hatch Stardust.
- 2x Hatch XP.
- 2x Hatch Candy.
Citywide Gameplay (US$ 8.00)
The Citywide Gameplay add-on allows trainers to get an extra day to enjoy the following bonuses:
- An increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokemon.
- Up to five Special Trades daily within the city.
- 1/2 Stardust cost for trades within the city.
- Lure Modules (except Golden ones) will last for four hours.
It’s worth noting that players will only receive the event Special Research once.
What happens during Pokemon Go City Safari events?
Participants in Pokemon Go City Safari events will not only be able to find particular Pokemon out in the wild but will also have increased chances of finding Shiny variations.

- Up to five Special Trades can be made per ticket (no matter where in Hong Kong you are).
- Trades will require 50% less Stardust.

It’s worth noting that the Eevee evolutions will not appear in the wild with the explorer hat. Those who wish to obtain these particular Eeveelutions wearing an explorer hat must evolve an Eevee wearing one.
São Paulo City Safari featured Pokemon spawns
The same Pokemon that appear in Hong Kong will appear in São Paulo. The only difference is that instead of featuring Unown H and K, this Unown will appear:

City Safari Eggs
Players can upgrade their tickets with the Egg-thusiast add-on for US$ 6.00 or R$23 to unlock the 1/2 Hatch Distance bonus during the event. The add-ons are active for both days.
These are the Pokemon that will hatch from 7 km Eggs in either city:
- Swablu*
- Skiddo*
- Ocicorio Pom-Pom style*
- Oricorio Sensu style*

Eevee Explorers Timed Research
The Pokemon Go City Safari events will feature the Eevee Explorers Timed Research, which will take you on an exciting tour of notable locations, landmarks, and local favorite spots.
Those who manage to complete the event-exclusive Timed Research will be rewarded with an extra encounter with Eevee wearing an explorer hat with a Hong Kong or São Paulo Location Card.
Ticket holders can receive up to eight encounters with Eevee wearing an explorer hat as part of the Timed Research in addition to the one they get for the Special Research. Those who purchase the second-day add-on can get eight extra encounters.
How to buy City Safari tickets
Players looking to purchase City Safari tickets can follow these simple steps:
- Open the Pokemon Go app or click here.
- Open the Main Menu button and tap on the Event option in the top right corner.
- Select the event you want to attend.
- Press ‘Get Tickets‘.
- Select the day (Saturday or Sunday).
- Select the time frame.
- Select the number of tickets, enter your username, and press ‘Add’.
- If you wish you can purchase the add-ons and then tab ‘Next’.
- Check your order and then proceed to payment.
