Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is coming to the Nintendo Switch, and it’ll be arriving much sooner than expected.
Lots of news came out of the January 9 Pokemon Direct for fans of the franchise, including a new game announcement.
Of course, the biggest news to arrive is two new expansions to Pokemon Sword and Shield, with the first, The Isle of Armor, arriving in June while the second one, Crown Tundra, is scheduled for sometime in the fall.
Over 200 Pokemon will be brought into the generation with this expansion, many of them being some old favorites such as Squirtle and Bulbasaur.

As something to help hold fans over for that expansion, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team is being remade for the Nintendo Switch.
Here’s everything we know about the upcoming title so far.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX release date
The remake of the 2006 dungeon crawler will be releasing for the Nintendo Switch on March 6, several months before The Isle of Armor hits Sword and Shield.
This will give players plenty of time to revisit this game, or even check it out for the first time, as they prepare for the launch of new Sword and Shield content.
To help get players hyped up for the release, Nintendo released a brand-new trailer showcasing how much the game has changed over the past 14 years.

Mystery Dungeon may be a Pokemon game, but it couldn’t be any further from what you’d expect. Instead of taking control of a trainer, you’re actually put into the shoes (feet?) of a Pokemon as you progress through a series of dungeons and locations.
Along the way, your Pokemon and its party will level up and gain strength, so you can progress through the harder stages of the game. On top of that, since this is a series that originally debuted on the Game Boy Advance, Mystery Dungeon has undergone a major graphical overhaul.
The new graphics have a design that almost resembles a drawing or a painting, instead of a video game. It’s an art style that perfectly fits the tone of the game, and we’re excited to see it in action.
As it turns out, we don’t have to wait very long for that to happen, because a free demo for the title was also announced.
Demo, you say?
During the Pokemon Direct, it was revealed a free demo would be available shortly after the announcement.
If you head to the Nintendo Eshop right now, you’ll be able to start your install of the demo and play it as soon as it finishes the download. As an added bonus, all progress you make will carry over to the official release in March.
That’s all there is to it! If you’re as excited about Pokemon Mystery Dungeon as we are, make sure you download that demo to get a head start on your adventures as a pocket monster.
