Pokemon fans are no strangers to imagining their takes on the many Pocket Monsters in this iconic franchise, but one artist’s interpretation is currently going down a storm.
It’s pretty common for the many Pokemon players across the world to come up with new monsters, new variants, and other fantastical takes on the hundreds of creatures the world knows and loves.
What’s much rarer, is for Pokemon players to share good art of new Pokemon, with many missing the mark of the actual designs. The Pokemon Company has its design process down, so it’s not every day that Pokemon players rally behind fan art.
However, one impressive piece of art is doing the rounds on Reddit, as it gives an often-overlooked Johto Pokemon a redesign, that could fit right into the ancient theme of the Legends series.
Fan’s ancient Forretress design is a hit with other players
Pokemon fan and artist u/JJonnie has shared a post on Reddit, showing off their ingenious design that combines ancient architecture, and the fortress part of Forretress’ name.

Other Pokemon fans seem to be overwhelmingly positive about this fan’s design, with one enthusiastic post replying, saying “That looks absolutely sick! It even fits in with the theme of Johto, looking at the towers in Ecruteak City! I even like the lore behind it.”
Another fan throws their support behind the design, adding “I actually love this. Great concept.” While one post says, “I never thought I’d look at Foerretress and think “aw so cute 🥰!” but you only went and did it! Great work OP.”
While it’s not currently clear if there is going to be a Pokemon game in 2024, many fans have their eyes firmly set on Pokemon Day for an announcement. With any luck a title similar to Pokemon Legends: Arceus could be on the way, and this design would fit right in.
