Opening a large number of booster packs can be a lot of fun as a Pokemon TCG fan. It doesn’t always guarantee good hits though, as one unlucky player discovered with a massive haul.
Getting your hands on a large number of booster packs can be a lot of fun if you’re a fan of the Pokemon trading card game. It doesn’t mean that you’re always going to end up with heaps of hits, though.
One Pokemon TCG player took to r/PokemonTCG lately to display the results of tearing into 1,800+ cards from a variety of different sets and expansions. Despite the massive number of cards, the end results were somewhat unexpected and underwhelming.
Pokemon TCG player misses out with huge card haul
Originally popping up in this post, Pokemon TCG player nategreat87 posted before and after snaps of their massive haul with the caption “over 1,800 cards and got these” before asking other players if their luck was just terrible.
Other players in the comments could not believe the results, with one person noting that they kept clicking to try and find the next pulls pic. Another warned the original poster by saying:
“I want to call you a liar but damn bro, do NOT go to the casino tonight!”

Amidst all the sympathetic threads, some Pokemon fans in the replies decided to dig a little deeper. One person pointed out that these sorts of odds are fairly common with Sword & Shield packs and noted that “Special Illustration Rares are pulled like candy compared to those.”
Other fans pointed out that nategreat87 managed to pull the Charizard ex from Pokemon Scarlet & Violet – 151, which is a supremely popular card that still manages to run up a solid price depending on card quality and grading. The 151 pulls were the definite stars of the show in this haul.
Some of the Pokemon TCG players in the thread suggested that it could be worth buying singles instead of ripping packs based on this post. One person offered condolences by saying, “Well hopefully u got that out of your system. Buying singles for the win” and OP agreed that they may switch to that.
