It’s been a busy year for Pokemon card collectors so far, and another electrifying expansion set has just been added to the release schedule.
Unveiled on the Pokemon Center website, Surging Sparks is set to be the next addition to the Scarlet & Violet era of the TCG. Stellar Tera-types will play a big part in this expansion set, meaning it’s one to watch as a competitive player.
Here’s everything we know about the Surging Sparks set so far, including the release window, the featured Pokemon, and the overall theme.
Please note – this set has only just been announced, so information is subject to change.
Surging Sparks release date
The Pokemon TCG Surging Sparks set will be released on November 8, 2024. According to the Pokemon Center, pre-orders for this one will ship in early November so there shouldn’t be too long a wait for online orders to hit your hand.
Featured Pokemon and theme
Surging Sparks will, unsurprisingly, have a strong focus on Electric-type Pokemon, alongside Dragon-types. It has a vibrant, tropical theme, with plenty of emphasis on Stellar Tera-type ‘mons.
A large chunk of the cards will originate from the Japanese expansion set Paradise Dragona. Based on the packaging and official artwork, Surging Sparks will feature Stellar Tera-type Pikachu and Alolan Exeggutor, alongside other powerful ‘mons like Latias and Archaludon.

A striking Magneton promo card was unveiled with this expansion set, with an abstract aesthetic and potentially powerful Ability.
Surging Sparks product list
Surging Sparks is looking like an exciting release, with a reported 250+ card list for fans to dig into. The product list is nicely varied, too, with the following items being up for grabs:
- Elite Trainer Boxes: Both standard ETBs and Pokemon Center ETBs.
- Sleeved Booster Packs.
- Booster Display Boxes.
- Booster Bundles.
There will be new Stellar Tera-type cards for collectors to pick up, alongside powerful ACE SPECs, Pokemon ex, and full-art gems. A full card list is not currently available, but the box art indicates a heavy focus on the Stellar Pokemon type.
Surging Sparks is one to watch as a competitive Pokemon TCG player, but it seems to be promising from an art collector’s perspective, too.
