The Legendary Regirock has returned to Pokemon Go‘s 5-Star Raids for a very limited time, so if you’re planning on taking down the tough Rock-type Pokemon, here are its weaknesses and best counters.
The big tough golem known as Regirock was introduced to the franchise in Gen 3’s Hoenn region as part of the Legendary Giants group along with Regice, Registeel, Regieleki, Regidrago, and Regigigas.
Since its debut in Niantic’s game, Regirock has been popping in and out of 5-Star Raid battles and has had opportunities to shine in the Go Battle League, which is why players cannot miss the chance to add one to their collection.
If you’re looking to catch the Legendary Pokemon, here’s all you need to know.
Regirock weaknesses in Pokemon Go
As a pure Rock-type Pokemon, Regirock has many glaring weaknesses that trainers can exploit. Steel, Ground, Fighting, Water, and Grass-type moves heavily weaken Regirock and will help you defeat the legendary golem.
However, it’s worth noting that Regirock is resistant to Normal, Flying, Poison, and Fire-type attacks, so keep those out of your arsenal.

If you don’t have any of the creatures mentioned, go with their alternative or regular versions, or just use your best attackers to target Regirock’s weaknesses. Remember that they should be properly leveled up and know the matching movesets.
How to get Regirock in Pokemon Go
Just like with other Legendaries, the most common way to get Regirock in Pokemon Go is through 5-Star Raid battles. This means trainers will have to challenge and defeat it to attempt a catch with the Premier Balls given after the battle – the amount they get will depend on their performance during the fight.
Luckily for those hunting the Golem, Regirock will appear as a Raid Boss on June 23, 2025, along with Regice and Registeel as part of the Ancients Recovered event. Then, the three of them will join Regieleki, Regidrago, and Regigigas for one final appearance on June 27, 2025.

During its run as a Raid boss, Regirock will know the Charged Move: Earthquake.
When challenging this Legendary, remember to use Golden Razz Berries and land Excellent throws and Curve Balls to increase your chances of catching it.
Besides 5-Star Raids, there have been other ways to acquire Regirock in the game throughout the years. From Research Tasks to rescue its Shadow version from Giovanni. However, those are not currently available.

Can Regirock be Shiny?
Yes, Regirock can be Shiny in Pokemon Go, as this special variation was added to the game at the start of the A Colossal Discovery event back in 2019.
Unfortunately for Shiny hunters, Shiny Regirock is a little disappointing, as the only difference between it and its regular form is that its body turns a couple of tones darker.
It’s worth noting, though, that the odds of finding a Shiny Pokemon are very low, as there’s no special technique or method to secure an encounter. The only thing trainers can do to increase their chances is to hunt as many Regirock as they can.
