In any other month trainers would be speculating as to what Pokemon will headline the April Community Day. This isn’t any other month though, so instead Pokemon Go players are wondering whether the next Community Day will happen at all.
The current global health situation has been well documented so we won’t harp on about it here. It has caused disruption all over the world and while video games have been less affected, some location-based mobile games have been.
Niantic have already implemented widespread changes in Pokemon Go. There are even suggestions there will be more changes to come.
With so much going on and many trainers being on some form of lockdown, playing Pokemon Go is not only a lot harder right now, it isn’t sensible to do so, at least with people outside.
Trainers often use Community Days to go Pokemon hunting in a group to make the most of three-hour bonus window. This, of course, won’t be possible in April. So, will the April event happen?
Canceled or postponed again
We know that Abra was supposed to headline the March Community Day but this was postponed (not canceled). That’s already one event that needs to be rescheduled.

Assuming the next one doesn’t go aheadm will it just be written off entirely or, like Abra, will the headlining Pokemon be announced and pushed back for a later month? If it is, we could get ‘mini’ Community Days at more regular intervals later in the year. Alternatively, there could be one huge Pokemon Go event, much like the end of year Community Days.

What if the event goes ahead?
If the Pokemon Go April Community Day does take place then it will be playable from the comfort of your own home. This is something that will be understandably encouraged through the Pokemon social channels.
Trainers have noticed increased Pokemon habitats and more appearing in the wild, something that has been confirmed by Niantic. So, we can expect to see a lot of whichever Pokemon would headline spawning together.
Regarding bonuses, it seems likely it will involve Stardust or XP, as opposed to egg hatching. This is because even with a big egg hatching distance bonus, Niantic won’t want to encourage players to leave their homes.
We should get some form of announcement soon but what we can be sure of is that it’ll be different to other Community Days, if it takes place at all.
