There’s a very specific way of catching the Ghost/Flying-type in the Sinnoh remakes and if you’re not careful, you may miss it. Here’s how to get Drifloon in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.
The Gen IV reimaginings transport players back to the Sinnoh region like it’s 2006 again. And one of the most important parts of any Pokemon game is building a solid team.
Drifloon is a popular pick amongst Trainers because not only is it cute, but its evolution, Drifblim, is a solid contender in battles against Gym Leaders and the Elite Four.

How to catch Drifloon in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl
In order to spawn one, you need to have reached the Valley Windworks (east of Floaroma Town) and defeated Team Galactic there. This happens after beating the first Gym Leader, Roark, in Oreburgh City. A single Drifloon will appear every Friday after this outside the building.

Note that if you beat Team Galactic on a Friday, you’ll need to wait a whole week until it spawns. Do NOT change the date on your Nintendo Switch’s clock as a way to bypass waiting because you will be locked out of all time-based spawns for 24 hours. There’s simply no choice but to wait.
- Wait until the Friday after defeating Team Galactic.
- Head to the Valley Windworks during the day. This is between 10 AM and 7:59 PM.
- If done correctly, you’ll see Drifloon floating outside the building’s front doors. Simply interact with it to initiate a battle.
How to evolve Drifloon into Drifblim in Pokemon BDSP
Evolving Drifloon into Drifblim is easy. Unlike other Pokemon in the Pokedex, there’s no special trick or method – simply level it up to level 28 via battles and/or Rare Candy and it’ll transform.

There’s no other way to get Drifblim outside of this, so you need to use the above method to catch a Drifloon and then evolve it.
