Frustrations can boil over when searching for rare species in Pokemon Sword and Shield, but don’t fret, we’re going to show you exactly where to find an Elgyem and how to evolve it.
Trainers have been exploring the vast riches of the Galar Region since the games were released on November 15, exploring all of the new features and, of course, the Wild Area where a ton of powerful Pokemon can be found as well.
For those wanting to catch’em all in the Sword and Shield Pokedex, that means locating some of the characters that are the hardest to find and that’s not always an easy task – especially if you don’t know where to look for them.
So, let’s see where you can find and catch yourself an Elgyem.
The psychic-type Pokemon was first introduced to the series in Generation 5, so there’s no doubt that many players will have grown to like it over time and would like to catch it on the newest games.
Elgyem locations in Pokemon Sword & Shield
With a rarity between 10 and 30 percent, depending on the type of weather it is, you’re going to need to be at the right place at the right time to spark an encounter with this alien-looking creature. The good news is, though, that it can be found at the same place and with the same percentages of finding it in both games – which can’t be said for all Pokedex entrants in the Galar Region.

The best place to spot one is at Motostoke Riverbank in foggy conditions. It isn’t always going to be covered with fog, though, so our guide on how to change the weather in Pokemon Sword and Shield might be pretty handy for this step.
How to evolve Elgyem into Beheeyem
Once you’ve managed to capture an Elgyem, which often spawns between levels 26 to 29 depending on its location, then you’re not far from having its evolved form –Beheeyem.
In order to get a Beheeyem, simply grind your way up with the Pokemon until it reaches level 42 where it will evolve into its stronger form. If you would like to make that evolution process a little faster, however, you could use some items that boost XP – such as a Rare Candy.
