Host of The Traitors US Alan Cumming explained why Peacock decided to bring “fan favorite” Kate Chastain back.
Below Deck’s Kate Chastain was a standout contestant on The Traitors US Season 1 — so much so that production asked her to return for Season 2.
When Kate made her entrance in Episode 5, host Alan Cumming made her a Faithful. However, Traitor Phaedra Parks recruited Kate to join her evil forces in Episode 8.
Though the season isn’t over yet, Cumming opened up with TVLine about why the network brought Kate back, saying they enjoy “spicing things up.”
Alan Cumming calls Kate Chastain a “phenomenal” player
Explaining to TVLine how Kate didn’t have a “perfect game” during Season 1, Cumming knew that bringing her back with “different, fresh eyes” would bring her and the show success.
He also said that the network enjoys “spicing things up,” as it is a “murder mystery at the end of the day,” so bringing her back halfway through the season was a must.

Cumming then confirmed that he and the network discussed having Kate back for Season 2, as she was a “phenomenal” player and a “fan favorite” as an OG Faithful.
Not to mention the “unfinished business” Kate had after being banished before the Season 1 finale when Cirie Fields, a Traitor, took home the $250,000 grand prize.
Kate also opened up with TVLine about her return to The Traitors US, saying that she was “definitely caught off guard” when she got the call to come back.
However, Kate continued to say it was “such an honor” to be asked back, and that she quickly found a nanny for her baby boy whom she welcomed to the world on May 5, 2023.
To see if Kate accepts Phaedra’s bid to become part of the dark side, fans can tune into The Traitors US Season 2 on Peacock tonight at 9:00 PM EST. Further episodes will continue to air every Thursday.
