Season 22 of the ABC network singing competition is underway and its first episode premiered on February 18, 2024.
A bunch of vocally talented contestants were chosen by the production and given a chance to show off their skills on the big screen. The show was announced to be hosted by Rayan Seacrest.
Along with the fan-favorite host, all three of the judges from the previous season were announced to be making a comeback. Here are the three singing legends who will be on the judges panel of American Idol Season 22.
Luke Bryan
Luke became part of American Idol during its 2018 reboot and has been part of the series since Season 16. The country singer’s talent is acclaimed by the Academy of Country Music Awards and the Country Music Association which makes him the perfect choice as an American Idol judge and coach.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry is known as the face of American Idol but she only joined the show during its 2018 season after Simon Cowell’s exit. However, it was announced that Season 22 might be the pop star’s last season with the franchise.

Lionel Richie
The singer and producer, Lionel Richie, had a soaring music career since the 1970s. The soul and R&B singer has had the chance to work with amazing musicians including Micahel Jackson and Kenny Rogers.
Richie, like the other judges, joined the show in 2018 and since then has continued to be part of American Idol.
American Idol Season 22 live episodes will air every Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC from 18 February 2024 onward.
