Rocket League fans trolled Epic Games during the RLCS Season 7 World Championship finals, after a cameraman was baited into filming their hidden message on the official livestream.
The Season 7 World Championships took place in the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey with a huge $529,500 prize pool on offer to some of the world’s best Rocket League teams.
It was Renault Vitality that came out on top, defeating G2 Esports 4-1 to scoop the trophy. However, eagle eyed viewers spotted something interesting during the official broadcast, after a cameraman mistakenly filmed a group of fans’ hidden message to Epic Games.
Psyonix, the developer of Rocket League, was officially purchased by Epic on May 1, a move that divided opinion in the RL community.
Some fans were keen to see how the financial might of Epic will effect the game’s competitive scene, while others were not sold on the idea of the game moving to the Epic launcher.
This group of fans didn’t attempt to hide their thoughts on the matter, using sailor outfits as a disguise, they casually played up for the camera, playing with their mustaches and flexing their muscles.

After realizing the spotlight was on them, they swiftly turned around the reveal a mock Epic Games logo, on the back of their shirts, labelled ‘Epic Fail’.
Their antics caused plenty of laughs in the arena as the broadcaster quickly transitioned to the commentary team, who refused to comment, but couldn’t stop themselves from smirking.
It seems the Rocket League community remain split on the topic of Epic’s takeover – only time will tell whether the move will prove to be healthy for the game’s long-term future.
