The world of Rocket League is quite literally being flipped on its head and sent to the Upside Down after a teaser trailer revealed a Stranger Things collaboration is coming soon.
The Duffer Brothers’ Stranger Things series premiered on Netflix in 2016, and quickly blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon. Now, the 80’s inspired sci-fi show is set to leave its mark on Psyonix’s bumper-cars title Rocket League.
Psyonix revealed the upcoming event in an October 9 video, as the Stranger Things Universe mixes with Rocket League for this iteration of the annual Haunted Hallows update.
Set to go live on October 14, the new patch brings an assortment of unique series-themed rewards, from player banners to vehicle toppers, all eerily inspired by the show.
Starting innocently enough, the promotional video quickly goes awry and transitions into the ominous realm of The Upside Down to showcase the new visual style that will soon take over.
Hinting at a limited-time playable arena in the setting, the Rocket League website elaborated that while players may visit this new locale, everyone ought to “watch out for the Mind Flayer.”

Additionally, on top of the plethora of Stranger Things inspired items coming to Rocket League with the future update, Golden Pumpkins will also be made available.
Golden Pumpkins contain items from the Accelerator, Velocity, and Triumph Crates that can currently be acquired at leisure in the title.
The Stranger Things crossover isn’t the first time Rocket League has dived into pop-culture either. Back to the Future’s DeLorean is already available in game, as are other iconic vehicles like K.I.T.T. from Nightrider.
The Netflix series coming to games has happened once before as well — recently Fortnite celebrated a crossover with the horror show, suggesting Netflix may be pushing more of their exclusive titles into the biggest video games in the scene.
