OfflineTV’s Rust server has taken over Twitch in recent times, with some of the platform’s biggest streamers coming together to play, and viewers shouldn’t be worried to see it shut down. It’s coming back soon with some updates.
Those who tune into the OTV server’s action regularly will know the likes of xQc, Valkyrae, Pokimane, Myth, and more have been mainstays.
The action players have been enjoying is about to be shaken up, however, as a new server update is being rolled out. For those wondering how it’s going to look when the dust has settled, we’ve brought together all of the confirmed details for you in one place.
OfflineTV Rust server return date/time
As confirmed by BaboAbe on Twitter, the new server will go live on Monday, July 5
The new server is scheduled to go live at 12pm PDT / 3pm EDT / 8pm BST / 9pm CEST.
Just like before, it may take a few minutes before everyone manages to get into the server, given that there’s plenty of interest. So, tune in your streamer of choice at the time, wait a few minutes, and things should get underway.
If you want to join, best bet is to ask someone on the server to dm me/vouch for you.
Friends, feel free to vouch for people you truly believe will be a positive add.
If you're asking someone I barely know or someone that got in via vouch I probably will not entertain it.

What’s changing?
Those who have been watching along with the previous iterations of the server rules might be in for a bit of a shock this time around.
Last time out, there was plenty of focus on roleplaying instead of the typical Rust experience of just dominating others with guns and in fights. This time around, there will be a bit more focus on PVP.
As outlined in the rule changes, players are able to group up into teams of 8 again, and can partner with other squads for fights. However, there will be a serious clampdown on claims of metagaming and stream sniping – something that plagues pretty much every game at the moment on Twitch.
Another big change sees players being allowed to offline raid an enemy’s base. Last time out, this was frowned upon, given that a team could lose all of their gear and not fight back.
Some streamers like Sodapoppin and Sykkuno have raised concerns with the focus being placed on PVP – with Soda suggesting that it won’t be too fun if a lot of full-time Rust players get involved as they did last time.
The changes to the server might not be favored by some viewers, as the original was uber-popular, but only time will tell if it’s an improvement.
