Following last month’s stream that announced The Sims 4 Pack Refresh, details regarding The Spa Day update have been officially confirmed by EA, with new traits, aspirations, and features like nails on the way!
While we’ve been aware that The Sims 4 is receiving new changes to remix existing content, Spa Day is the first pack to receive the ‘Pack Refresh’ treatment (pun intended).
Many had suspected that the game‘s previous Game Pack would be getting an update after a listing on EA’s own site appeared to have let the massage oil out of the bottle, and it didn’t take too long for The Sims Team to officially confirm the update with a trailer and developer stream.

The refresh for the Game Pack will release on PC, Mac, and Console on September 7, 2021.

The update adds a whole host of new features, including the High Maintenance trait, the ability to take kids to the spa, and fresh pamper routines. What could be better for a stressed-out Sim?

According to the official description, Simmers can look forward to some fantastic features, listed below:
- High Maintenace trait
- Inner Peace, Zen Guru, and Self-Care Specialist aspirations
- New nail styles, colors, and shapes
- Facials, manicures, and pedicures
- Kid sims can now participate in Wellness activities
- Earn money with the skill by teaching other Sims
- New reward traits: Calming Aura, Clear Perspective, Self Care Expertise, and Spa Membership

The brand new trailer showcases all of the cool new things Simmers can take part in with the refresh, and it looks like your Sims will be needing to plan that special trip to the Spa as soon as possible to take advantage of it all.

The Sims 4 NPC/Townie overhauls
But the work won’t stop there. Instead, Maxis also confirmed that Townies are also in line for a refurbish in the form of skin tones that will be more varied.

“Hundreds of Townies have come to light since the first Sims game launched 21 years ago,” Ashton said. “It’s about time for a tiny overhaul. We’re currently in the process of updating NPCs in the Sims 4 including visuals and their lore.
That was Ashton’s response to a question about lighter skin tones in the Sims. Maxis are getting ready to update hundreds of individual Townies, so this update may be coming later down the road.
