Nintendo have officially confirmed the next DLC character coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate will be a character from ARMS, in a surprise Nintendo Direct on March 26.
The fighter included in Wave 6 of the Ultimate DLC will be unique, given the extendable ‘arms’ they come equipped with, which could make them a standout contender.
It was explained that development time on the character would also be extended, asking fans to be patient for the new character.
Which ARMS character it will be exactly wasn’t revealed, and there is a large roster for them to choose from.
The announcement will come as a surprise to many Smash fans, and some will be disappointed that the character isn’t from another franchise.
But, we’ll have to wait until June to see if the fighter is actually a worthwhile addition to Smash. You can see the announcement from Nintendo Direct here, at around the 14-minute mark.

It’s unclear how the extendable arms would be implemented in Smash, but perhaps that’s what the extra development time is required for.
We’ll know exactly which character it is come June, which is also when they will be released.
Also noted in the March 26 Direct, anyone who is subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online can get a free trial of ARMS. So, if you’ve never tried it before, now might be the perfect time to practice for the new Smash fighter.
