Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy could be the first PlayStation character to appear in Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros franchise if Guerrilla Games has its way.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate has been wrapped up for a couple of years now with Kingdom Hearts’ Sora being the final DLC, but that hasn’t stopped developers from wanting their characters in Nintendo’s platform fighter.
Over the years we’ve seen Mortal Kombat’s Ed Boon call for Scorpion to join the roster, Mario + Rabbids Creative Director request Rayman, and Halo devs insist Master Chief finish the fight.
Now, Guerrilla Games’ franchise development lead producer, Tim Symons, has added Aloy to the growing list of candidates for new Smash fighters.
Speaking with Kotaku, Symons was asked about the possibility of Aloy being added to Smash now that Horizon is making its way to Nintendo Switch in the form of Horizon Lego Adventures.
“That’d be nice,” he said. “If you speak to Nintendo and they want to invite us let me know.”

Aloy would certainly make a fine addition to the Smash roster given the tools and abilities she has in Horizon. With projectiles and good melee combat, she might just be a better version of Link.
His response seems to suggest that Nintendo hasn’t spoken to Guerrilla Games or PlayStation about adding Aloy to Smash, or if they have, it’s possible that Symons just isn’t aware.
Although it’s unlikely that there will be more Smash Ultimate DLC, there have been rumors from series creator Masahiro Sakurai himself that indicate Nintendo is working on a new Smash game. The only question is if it will be a fully new title or a Smash Ultimate Deluxe.
Nothing has been confirmed yet, though, and until Nintendo reveals its new console, the fate of the Smash series remains unknown.
That said, there have also been reports that Illumination wants to do an Avengers-style Super Smash Bros film following the success of The Mario Movie along with rumors that Nintendo has something big planned to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary.
