Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 introduced the Web Wing mechanic which allows players to fly through ringed Wind tunnels around the map. But can you turn off these giant rings on the HUD? Let’s talk about it.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 not only tweaked the swinging mechanics introduced in the 2018 game but also introduced the new Web Wing mechanic for both Peter and Miles.
Web Wings act as a way for the two heroes to glide around New York, with various wind tunnels spread out around the city to give players a boost, keep them afloat, or help them cross vast distances.
These wind tunnels are visible on the overworld by swirling bits of wind, but can also be scanned to reveal glowing blue rings that show players. However, some fans may be wondering if they can turn these rings off to offer a more immersive experience. Well, let’s dive into that question now.
Can you turn off Gliding Rings in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?
At the time of writing, unfortunately, there is no way for players to turn off the HUD rings that mark wind tunnels around the city.
Although Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 offers plenty of customizable elements to the game’s HUD, such as turning off fullscreen effects, adding a center dot to the screen, or adjusting in-game filters like motion blur and film grain, there is no option to disable wind tunnel rings.

Among the UI options that players can enable or disable, you can opt to show control hints, explicit puzzle hints, lock the Mini-Map north, disable UI Parallaxing, and chance icon sizes.
Sadly, it seems there are some elements of the UI and HUD that fans simply cannot alter at the time of writing. According to the game’s lore, the Gliding Rings show up thanks to the new AR tech integrated into Peter and Miles’ new masks.
While some players appreciate the in-game explanation for these visual rings, some fans may find it too immersion-breaking for their tastes.
While players can’t disable Gliding Rings at the moment, that doesn’t mean there will never be an option to do so. Insomniac has confirmed there will be more Accessibility Options added to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in December 2023, so the option could be added to the game then.
That’s everything you need to know about whether or not you can disable wind tunnel rings in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. For more Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 guides, check out the links below:
