WWE has announced that from 2025 its flagship show Monday Night Raw will be broadcast by Netflix.
The deal comes as a massive departure for WWE – and holding company TKO – as it will see Raw’s 31-year run on linear television come to an end as it moves to the streaming platform.
Beginning in January 2025, Netflix will hold exclusive rights to broadcast Raw in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Latin America, among other territories. It’s added that additional regions and countries will be included over time.
In perhaps even bigger news, especially for non-Americans, Netflix will broadcast the rest of WWE’s shows and PPVS outside of the United States. That means, as well as Raw, the other weekly shows of Smackdown and NXT, premium live events like Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble and SumerSlam plus additional documentaries and series will all be available in one place internationally.
The Sports Business Journal reports that the length of the deal is 10 years is worth $5billion. Raw will continue to to air on Monday nights and will remain three hours long, as it has been since 2005.
What has been said
“This deal is transformative,” said Mark Shapiro, TKO President and COO. “It marries the can’t-miss WWE product with Netflix’s extraordinary global reach and locks in significant and predictable economics for many years. Our partnership fundamentally alters and strengthens the media landscape, dramatically expands the reach of WWE, and brings weekly live appointment viewing to Netflix.”
