Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney has revealed the truth about reports he is in talks with Misfits Boxing about fighting on one of their cards.
According to a report in the Mirror, Rooney has held talks about having a fight on a Misfits boxing card promoted by the Sauerland brothers, Kalle and Nisse, and YouTube star KSI.
With Rooney currently out of work following managerial spells with Derby County, DC United and Birmingham City, it was thought the 38-year-old was seriously considering making his fighting debut.
The platform has seen the likes of KSI, Tommy Fury and Logan Paul compete for huge sums of money, as well as a whole host of other famous YouTubers, social media stars and celebrities.
Rooney addresses Misfits Boxing talk
Rooney looked set to be the latest big name to appear in the ring under the Misfits banner but he has moved to dismiss the speculation.
While appearing alongside former team-mates Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher on the Overlap’s Stick to Football podcast, Rooney admitted Misfits have been in touch regarding a possible fight.

Although he didn’t rule out the prospect, the former Manchester United and Everton star insisted his focus right now is on a return to football management.
“You never know,” Rooney said when asked if he was considering a move to boxing.
“They’ve been in touch and asked the question but I think at the minute I want to focus on getting back into management, not boxing.
“There’s been a few obviously. Misfits have been and that’s been all over over the news. I want to focus on getting back into management, that’s my focus.”
