Will ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin wrestle again is often the question on every WWE fan’s lips and with Wrestlemania XL just around the corner there is bound to be growing speculation.
‘Stone Cold’ is one of, if not the, biggest star in the history of professional wrestling with only Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Hulk Hogan running him close.
Austin, the hero of the infamous Attitude Era in WWE, was forced to hang up his boots earlier than many expected in 2003 after a culmination of several serious injuries took their toll. Austin suffered several serious knee injuries during his career and broke his neck at SummerSlam 1997.
However, the ‘Texas Rattlesnake’ made a heroic return to the ring in 2022 as he competed at Wrestlemania 28 in his home state to take on Kevin Owens in the main event of night one.
Austin emerged victorious in his first match in 19 years, getting the pin in the hellacious No Holds Barred match with a trademark ‘Stone Cold Stunner’ after the pair brawled in the crowd and hit each other with weapons.
The match so far has always been billed as a one off but that hasn’t stopped fans asking…
Will ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin wrestle again?
Austin was absent from WWE in 2023 but was open to working another match at Wrestlemania 39. Sadly, a schedule conflict scuppered those ambitions as the filming of ‘Stone Cold Takes on America‘ over ran by two months and didn’t finish until four days before last year’s showpiece event.
“People have asked me, ‘Why didn’t do you do ‘Mania?’ They asked me, but I didn’t know what my life was going to look like until I was done with this show,” he told Bleacher Report last April.

“I finished up on the show four days before WrestleMania. I drove every single mile in an RV and I brought dumbbells with me, a sandbag and a kettle bell, so I got my workouts in.”
However, the 59-year-old also revealed he remains open to returning to the ring once again if the right story presents itself.
He added: “I said many years ago, ‘I’m done, I’m never going to wrestle again, but if the stars ever aligned…’ and they did.
“When they approached me about working with Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38, I turned them down several times until we came up with that idea. So, we went out and did it.
“Could it still happen? Yeah, it could still happen,” he said. “Am I lobbying for it? Am I trying to get anybody talking about it? No. If you ever ask me a question, I’m going to give you an honest answer.”
Let the speculation begin. With Wrestlemania just over a month away and a certain CM Punk back in WWE, fans are certainly not going to stop dreaming of seeing Austin dish out some stunners and crack a few cans any time soon.
