Apple has finally unveiled the Apple Pencil Pro. Here’s everything you need to know about the company’s highest-end stylus, including information on price, availability, features, and more.
As well as from the new OLED iPad Pro and iPad Air, Apple unveiled a new stylus dubbed Apple Pencil Pro at the recently concluded Let Loose event.
The Apple Pencil Pro has many new features that offer iPad users more ways to interact with their tablet and help boost productivity.
With the introduction of the new Apple Pencil Pro, the company now has a flagship stylus, intended for professional use by artists and creators alike.

Apple Pencil Pro release date
The Apple Pencil Pro will debut on May 15, 2024. The stylus was initially revealed on May 7, 2024 as a part of Apple’s Let Loose event.
How much is the Apple Pencil Pro?
The Apple Pencil Pro is priced at $129 and only available in white. Given its use case and previous such products, we don’t expect Apple to introduce the new Apple Pencil Pro in any more color options.
Apple Pencil Pro: Specs and features
The Apple Pencil Pro is the most expensive stylus you can buy. While it does what most styluses are expected to do, it has some additional features as it’s a “Pro” product.
For starters, it is intended to help improve productivity and perform complex tasks quickly. This is why Apple has added a new “Squeeze” gesture, which can be activated by squeezing the pencil lightly from where you’d usually hold it. Doing so will open up a new tools palette, allowing you to quickly switch tools, colors, line weight, and more in applications like ProCreate.

Moreover, the Apple Pencil Pro has a haptic motor embedded in its body. This motor is designed to give you precise feedback whenever you double-tap to switch between tools, like a pen and eraser.
The Apple Pencil Pro now also has a built-in gyroscope. A quick roll of the pencil, which Apple calls “Barrell Roll,” lets you change the orientation of the brush.
The Apple Pencil Pro can be magnetically attached to your iPad, where it can rest and recharge. However, if this costly accessory slips between the sofa or silently rolls under the bed, it can now be traced using Apple’s Find My app.
Apple Pencil Pro compatibility
While the Pencil Pro is the most advanced Apple stylus, it doesn’t work with all the iPads from the company. If you want to use the Pencil Pro, you must have one of the iPads listed below.
- M4 iPad Pro (13-inch)
- M4 iPad Pro (11-inch)
- M2 iPad Air (13-inch)
- M2 iPad Air (11-inch)
Apple Pencil Pro: Luxury or necessity?
The Apple Pencil Pro is no mere stylus, and it has a high price tag to match. Since its compatibility with older devices is limited, you should only look to get one if you work in creative industries, where you already have an Apple Pencil in your workflow.
If you’re a casual user, then the standard Apple Pencil should offer more than enough functionality for you.
