Binance teasing a “crypto” scented perfume was not on our bingo card for this year’s International Women’s Day.
With International Women’s Day on the horizon, it’s not unsurprising to see tech brands share marketing campaigns to support women in the industry. Yet, in a move no one saw coming, Binance, one of the leading crypto exchanges in the world, announced a brand-new crypto-themed perfume.
The “fragrance meetings finance” scent was originally teased via an image posted on the official Binance X/Twitter page. According to the image, the perfume scent contains a “luxurious fashion of exotic ingredients.”

On March 6, a follow-up short marketing video revealed that the scent wasn’t a new Binance product, but instead created to “spark conversation” for International Women’s Day. As, according to Binance, women are still not investing in crypto as much as men.

“We’ve launched our new fragrance ‘CRYPTO’ as a new way to open up conversations with the public on what needs to be done to bridge the gender gap”, Binance stated on its X/Twitter page.
Originally reported by TechCrunch, the video in question showcases a representative of Binance, asking passers-by if they’ve “ever tried crypto” while presenting them to take a whiff of the arguably bizarre perfume bottle. The perfume, not actually a real product, is instead a method to talk to women about their experiences with crypto.

Both the initial teaser and the follow-up marketing video sparked a series of comments on social media, poking fun at the marketing stunt.
X/Twitter user deltaxbt commented, “Imagine the smell.”
Meanwhile, fellow X/Twitter user theycallmeshwaz stated, “There’s clearly also not enough women on your marketing team.”
Sadly, we’ll never find out what it smells like for ourselves as it’s not for sale. However, according to Binance, the “Crypto” perfume, and other Binance-themed merchandise, may potentially be available to be won at events and within future social media posts.
