Google’s third-gen smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 3, is official. Here’s everything you need to know, including its price, features, and where to buy it.

Google announced the Pixel Watch 3 during the Made by Google event on August 13 – the same event where the Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold were unveiled. The new watch retains the same design as last year’s model but brings updated hardware.

It comes in two sizes and offers UWB connectivity (making it the first Android smartwatch to do so). There are also upgrades to its display and charging capabilities.

Where to buy

The Pixel Watch 3 won’t be available for purchase until September 10, but you can pre-order it from the Google Store. It will eventually be available at other retailers, such as Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart.

You’ll be able to choose from two sizes: 41mm and 45mm. The 41mm model is available in Matte Obsidian with a Matte Black band, Porcelain with Polished Silver, and Hazel with Champagne Gold. There’s also an option with a Polished Silver case and a Rose Quartz band.

The 45mm model comes in Obsidian and Porcelain and introduces a new Matte Hazel Aluminum case, with matching Hazel band.

Price

The 41mm Pixel Watch 3 with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi will cost $349, while the same configuration for the 45mm model is $399. If you want LTE connectivity, add $100 to the standard price.

Design and display

The Google Pixel Watch 3 retains the same circular dial and follows a similar design language as its predecessors. The wearable features increased brightness and smaller bezels compared to previous models. It has 4.5mm bezels, down from the 5.5mm bezels on the Pixel Watch 2. Smaller bezels mean more screen real estate without increasing the display size.

The Pixel Watch 3 also boasts a 2000-nit display, a significant upgrade from the 1000-nit display on the Pixel Watch 2. This enhancement makes the watch more usable under direct sunlight.

Specs and features

The Pixel Watch 3 comes in two variants – one with Wi-Fi only and the other with LTE connectivity. The watch will support 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands along with Wi-Fi 6.

The new watch will support Ultra Wide Band (UWB) connectivity for precise location tracking. The same feature is available on the Apple Watch 9 and AirTags; however, it is missing from Google’s Find My Device network. This feature will help in improving the Watch Unlock to unlock the paired Android phone using the watch.

The Pixel Watch 3 runs on WearOS 5 teased at the Google I/O in June. This new operating system will offer improved battery performance and enhanced fitness tracking stats. Inside, the watch retains the same Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 SoC for wearables, and the same collection of sensors such as an HR monitor, ECG readings, SpO2, skin thermometer, and GPS.

The battery capacity on the wearable hasn’t changed. The 41mm model retains a 310 mAh unit, while the 45mm model has a 420 mAh cell. Although this isn’t a significant upgrade, the 45mm variant should still offer better battery life.
