GoPro’s could get cheaper than ever before as 2024 plans revealed

GoPro’s action cameras are expected to get cheaper this year as the company has hinted at releasing several new products.

GoPro has become synonymous with IRL streaming and vlogging, no matter where you are in the world. Like Apple’s iPads, the GoPro has ruled the segment with some of the best action cameras. But, their premium pricing has been the primary reason people often for GoPro alternatives.

This might change soon, however. The company has hinted that it is looking to introduce new products, widening its price gamut from $199 to $599.

GoPro’s founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman said, “We’re looking forward to launching several new products throughout the year, opening more retail doors at a steady rate, and activating a larger number of marketing initiatives to drive awareness and demand.”

GoPro has also announced its plan to acquire Forcite Helmet Systems – a maker of tech-enabled motorcycle helmets. Since action cameras are extensively used to capture videos while driving, this acquisition could result in a GoPro line of helmets, and potentially better FPV content, as a result.

The company also announced its annual revenues of $285.4 million, which fell short of the forecast of $327 million.

This is probably why GoPro wants to re-introduce its entry-level action cameras to woo budget-conscious content creators. Moreover, the promise to introduce new products suggests the company might launch new 360-degree cameras.

This announcement hints that we could also see the successor of the GoPro Max 360-degree camera. While GoPro has ignored this lineup for quite some time, we’ve seen a surge of 360 cameras from competitors like Insta360 and others.

The dawn of VR headsets and the introduction of Apple Vision Pro have also ushered in the era of 360-degree VR-friendly videos, and the re-introduction of this lineup could not have been better timed.
