Leak suggests iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro will get massive improvements but the iPhone 16 Plus may not be so lucky.
iPhone 16 leaks and rumors are in full swing. A recent report outlined the design changes on the vanilla model, while another detailed what could be the function of the rumored “capture button”. A reputable tipster now claims Apple also has battery improvements in store but only for some models.
According to the source, the standard iPhone 16 and the top-of-the-line iPhone 16 Pro Max will receive larger batteries. However, things may not be as rosy for the iPhone 16 Plus. The leaker didn’t provide any details about the iPhone 16 Pro model.
The iPhone 16 Plus might get a huge downgrade
Leaker Majin Bu claims on X that “the new iPhone 16 will have a 3561 mAh battery.” This is a significant improvement over the iPhone 15, which reportedly packs a 3349 mAh battery. Since Apple does not list the battery sizes, we can never be too sure.
iPhone 16 Pro Max is also said to get a slight increase in battery capacity. The iPhone 15 Pro Max packs a 4441 mAh battery while the upcoming model “should be equipped with a 4676 mAh battery,” says Majin Bu. Unlike its predecessor, the battery on the device is not “L” shaped. Apple has reportedly made internal changes to the device, allowing it to accommodate a rectangular battery.

What’s interesting is that Apple may downsize the iPhone 16 Plus’ battery. The iPhone previously packed a 4383 mAh battery which will allegedly be trimmed down to 4006 mAh.
It’s a bit of a letdown if this turns out to be true. The iPhone 15 Plus was praised for having the best battery life in several tests, including one by YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss, where the device lasted for over 13 hours.
Good things don’t last, and perhaps Apple realized it couldn’t let a non-Pro model beat the more expensive Pro Max.
Apple is also reported to use the stacked battery technology on the iPhones for battery efficiency and screen time. The smartphones could feature faster 40W wired charging and 20W MagSafe charging.
