A South Korean news outlet reports that the Meta Quest Pro 2 is in development, and will be a collaboration between Meta and LG.
Rumors have been flying for a while regarding the future of the Meta Quest Pro. With the launch of the hugely hyped Apple Vision Pro, interest in high-end mixed reality technology has been revived, and Meta is apparently taking advantage of this by partnering with another firm.
According to UploadVR, the South Korean publication Korea Economic Daily has apparently been in touch with ‘industry insiders’ who say that Mark Zuckerberg is planning to meet with the CEO of LG Electronics on February 28 in order to finalize details of a partnership.
This report dovetails with previous reports that Meta was partnering with LG in order to build a new version of the Meta Quest Pro headset. Though industry speculation has been referring to the device as the Meta Quest Pro 2, it is not actually clear at this stage what the headset will actually be called, nor is it clear if it will be branded as a Meta or LG product, or both.

Meta Quest Pro 2 planned for 2025 release
Korea Economic Daily further indicates that LG’s custom OS for its smart TVs will somehow be incorporated into this new headset and that this headset will begin to ship in the first quarter of 2025.
Meta has partnered with other electronics companies for its VR tech before, such as Samsung with the Gear VR or the Oculus Rift S being co-designed by Lenovo. All three devices were branded as Oculus, but featuring the logo of the manufacturing partner.
As usual, until an official announcement is released by LG or Meta, all of this is unconfirmed and should be therefore taken with the appropriate pinch of salt.
