A traveler on their way to a gaming tournament spotted a fellow gaming fan with a unique Nintendo Wii that contained its own tiny screen for portable play.
A traveler on his way to the Genesis X video game tournament was in the airport waiting for his flight to the event in San Jose, CA when he spotted something quite unique. It was a modified Nintendo Wii which contained a small screen for portable gaming.
The traveler, known as Sirakobama on Twitter/X, said that he was on his way to the Genesis X tournament when he spotted what he described as: “the most insane setup of my life.”
The Wii appeared to have once been a standard early-model white console but had been heavily modified to install a tiny screen on the wide side panel of the system. Several small buttons had also been installed under the screen, possibly to adjust brightness and contrast.

A unique method of portable gaming
The Wii was propped up against the pull handles of a suitcase, and the owner was enjoying a few games of Super Smash Bros: Melee as they waited for their flight departure. The panel that usually hides the sockets for GameCube controllers appears to have been removed to make access easier.
Though several portable game consoles and computers are now available, there is nothing quite like playing a game on the original hardware. The modified Wii was the work of Cardosi Customs, who agrees with this philosophy, and produces a range of mods and accessories for classic consoles such as the GameCube, GameBoy, and Wii.
The Nintendo Wii has proved to be a surprisingly versatile device, and it will be interesting to see what other uses clever modders can find for old tech.
