A Reddit user has taken their Grandma’s old briefcase and turned it into the ultimate Steam Deck travel case.
Every Steam Deck purchased directly from Valve comes with its own carry case. While it gets the job done, protecting your PC gaming handheld from any damage, it’s not the best-looking case out there. Even the upgraded OLED version, doesn’t leave much to the imagination.
One Reddit user has decided to turn the basic Steam Deck case on its head, by creating one of the coolest-looking cases we’ve ever seen for the handheld. The modder took their Grandma’s old briefcase and modified it to create the ultimate Steam Deck accessory.
Grandma’s old briefcase has never looked better
Posting to r/SteamDeck, Reddit user Yodarules2 shared a collage of images of their ingenious modification. The images feature the modded briefcase, looking like something straight out of Fallout 4.
The briefcase was passed down to the Reddit user after their grandmother had sadly passed away. Giving it new life, Yodarules2 integrated the vintage case with a portable display and space for extras, like the charger and 8BitDo controllers.
The entire thing is powered by the Steam Deck charger, including the display and Deck itself. Instead of including speakers, the modification relies on the handheld’s speakers, which “still sound great” according to Yodarules2.

The Steam Deck subreddit user proudly exclaimed, “I recently brought it on a 4 hour car ride to play with my brother and sister, both in the car and in the hotel and the experience was much better than I thought it would be.”
The incredibly classy-looking case went down a storm on r/SteamDeck. Many fellow Reddit users praised its design and Fallout influences, while others felt inspired to create one of their own.
User J-Vis stated, “I fkin love it. Thank you for blessing my eyes with this today good sir.”
Meanwhile, fellow SubReddit user Whiteshadow86 commented, “Loving the Vault-Tec and Steam Deck hybrid logo! Vault-Deck??”
Now, if only Valve would release their own themed Steam Deck cases. But, until then, you might have to mod a briefcase yourself.
