A new Steam Deck owner on Reddit was left quite shocked after receiving his handheld from GameStop as they accidentally upgraded them to a model with more storage.
Launched back in 2022, the Valve Steam Deck has revolutionized the pc gaming industry as it’s allowed users of all ages the ability to play their favorite Steam titles on the go.
Valve began selling the Steam Deck through GameStop in 2023, making it even more accessible to customers as they also began offering cheaper refurbished models.
One Redditor recently ordered their new Steam Deck through GameStop and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived at his front door.

In the accompanying pictures, you can see the box and receipt showing that OP ordered a 256GB model Steam Deck, and that’s what it said on the box when it arrived. However, the last photo shows that the device actually has 512GB of internal storage.
Others quickly took to the replies to share their thoughts on the oopsie as well, with many joking about the company’s trade-in values.
“Oopsie… I’m from GameStop, could you bring it back?” one user jokingly asked. OP replied: “You’ll only give me .50 cents.”
Another replied: “What is that like a free 150 dollars? Massive W dude happy for you.”
Many others speculated what could have caused the mix-up, with many thinking that maybe it was actually a 256GB model originally, but the previous owner upgraded the SSD.
