Audio company Altec Lansing claimed to know the release window of the Nintendo Switch 2, before backtracking on the release month. The company insists that the next-gen Nintendo console will be released in Fall 2024.
Over the last few years, rumors surrounding the Nintendo Switch successor have swirled across the internet.
Users seem to think that the Switch 2 may be released sooner than later, and a press release from Altec Lansing claimed to reveal a release month for the hotly-anticipated console.
In a press release revealing Altec Lansing’s new partnership with AI Shark, they mention the planned launch of their product will “coincide with the Nintendo Switch 2 in September 2024.”
Shortly after the press release gained traction, Digital Trends acquired a comment from Altec Lansing, which stated that Nintendo has not set a release date for the Switch 2, but the company still doubled down and clarified that it will launch in Fall 2024.
The company is seemingly insistent upon the Fall 2024 release window. But, they have currently not divulged further information.
AI Shark “just guessing” & internet responds
In another twist in the tale, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier spoke with AI Shark, who is named in the press release. AI Shark claims that they are reportedly “just guessing” the release window of the Nintendo Switch 2.

The internet has responded in kind to the breaking news. Users on Famiboards wrote: “September has always been a likely option, not because of AIShark, lmfao”. Another user said: “Whew, we dodged a bullet. September is too late (lol)”.
Switch 2 launch speculation
At the time of writing, there’s no definite word on when we may get the long-awaited Switch successor. However, there’s been quite a bit of speculation over the last few months.
Nintendo generally holds a Direct event in the spring of each year, meaning that we could potentially see a reveal of the Switch 2 console sometime in March or April of 2024.
Current rumors claim that we’ll see about a $50 USD price increase compared to the OLED model, to an MSRP of $400.
There’s no doubt that fans are excited to see what Nintendo has in store for their next console, with many wondering what game will be included as a launch title for the console.
