The Nvidia RTX 4060 graphics card is a good choice for PC builders who have to watch the budget. If you are looking where to buy an RTX 4060, we provide all the information you need.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU is on the lower end of the midrange for Nvidia’s current line-up of graphics cards, particularly since the launch of the 40 Super series earlier this year. Though it sits further down in the pecking order, it can still pack a considerable punch for 1080p and 1440p.
Historically, Nvidia cards with the 60 suffix are often the most popular models amongst mainstream and casual PC builders and gamers since they often provide a good balance of price versus performance.
With its wallet-friendly pricing that still provides access to powerful tools like DLSS 3, the Nvidia RTX 4060 is still proving to be a popular choice.
Where to buy the RTX 4060
The Nvidia RTX 4060 can be purchased from Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, Walmart, Micro Center, and B&H among many other retailers.Cards will vary slightly in configuration and specifications as some cards will be factory overclocked for superior performance. Accordingly, these cards will be more expensive than the standard versions.

RTX 4060 release date
The Nvidia GeForce 4060 was released on June 29, 2023.
The release date was accurately predicted by leaker Zed Wang, adding to his already impressive track record for reliable information regarding GPU releases.
How much is a 4060?
The RTX 4060 has an MSRP of $299.
This is a $30 decrease on the previous generation equivalent, the RTX 3060. This makes it a fine choice for PC builders on a budget who still want great performance. Nvidia had to make some compromises to achieve this price point, which can impede the RTX 4060 under more demanding loads.

RTX 4060 specifications
GPU | Nvidia RTX 4060 | Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti | Nvidia RTX 4070 | Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti | Nvidia RTX 4080 | Nvidia RTX 4090 |
CUDA cores | 3072 | 4352 | 5888 | 7680 | 9728 | 16384 |
Memory | 8GB GDDR6 | 8GB GDDR6 | 12GB GDDR6X | 12GB GDDR6X | 16GB GDDR6X | 24GB GDDR6X |
TBP | 115W | 160W | 250W | 285W | 320W | 450W |
With the release of the RTX 4060, the specifications have now been confirmed. The GPU will have a base clock of 1.83GHz and be able to boost up to 2.46GHz, all the while sipping power at 115W. The GPU features a 128-bit bus.
The RTX 4060 is based on the AD107 chip in Nvidia’s Lovelace lineup. Previously, we heard numerous leaks surrounding the graphics card. Namely, it will actually have fewer CUDA cores than the vanilla RTX 3060. However, thanks to a die-shrink and architecture switch it is faster than the 3060 itself.
Of note is that Nvidia’s mid-range offering is using the standard GDDR6, rather than the faster “X” variant.
Is the RTX 4060 powerful?
The Nvidia GeForce 4060 can deliver performance roughly equivalent to the RTX 3070, or RTX 2080 Ti. This means it can offer great performance at 1080p and 1440p, but its VRAM limitations restrict the GPU’s performance at 4K.
However, thanks to having access to tech like DLSS 3, the RTX 4060 can boost its pure rasterization performance significantly thanks to frame-generation techniques.
Should I buy an RTX 4060?
The Lovelace lineup of graphics cards is extremely power efficient, and could potentially save you a load of cash in the long run when compared to running something like an RTX 3070. The RTX 4060 is a very budget-friendly card and can offer great performance at 1080p or 1440p, especially with DLSS 3 engaged. If you want higher-end 1440p performance or 4K gaming, however, the RTX 4070 Super is probably a better option.
