RTX 4080 Super price
The Nvidia RTX 4080 Super will launch at an MSRP of $999. This confirms previous leaks from YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead, who claimed that Nvidia would adopt an aggressive pricing strategy to capture consumers who would otherwise wish to pick up an RX 7900 XT or XTX.
This has since been confirmed, meaning that the RTX 4080 Super will finally be available for retail at under $1000, which is a sore point for many when looking at the price-to-performance ratios on offer from Team Green. The GPU is expected to perform around 3-5% faster than the original model, with the highlight being the price.
Regardless, this slightly more competitive price will help turn heads away from the likes of the 4070 Ti or 4090.
RTX 4080 Super release date
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super was released on January 31, 2024. This is going to be the last of the initial wave of RTX 40-Super series graphics cards to be released, in a strategy that was heavily rumored before the announcement.
This means that the RTX 4080 Super will be the last to be released, with the 4070 Super and 4070 Ti Super coming first, being released earlier in January than the rest of the graphics cards.

RTX 4080 Super specifications
GPU | Nvidia RTX 4080 Super | Nvidia RTX 4080 Super |
CUDA cores | 10240 | 9728 |
Memory | 16GB GDDR6X | 16GB GDDR6X |
TBP | 320W | 320W |
Nvidia’s RTX 4080 Super is based on a slightly larger cutdown of the AD103 chip, with the vanilla 4080 using the AD103-300, and the RTX 4080 Super is using an AD103-400 chip instead. There’s also been a slight raising of the CUDA core count here, too. which should give you a slight performance boost, for $200 cheaper than the vanilla 4080.
While we would have liked to have seen a bigger boost in performance, we can’t complain too much about the price difference here, either.
In the lead-up to the official announcement, leaker Kopite7Kimi released unconfirmed specs for the 40 Super series, including the RTX 4080 Super. The specifications indicated that the RTX 4080 Super will have 10,240 CUDA cores, and would be built using the AD103 GPU. This is the same chip used in the standard RTX 4080, but unlike the standard version, all cores will be enabled compared to the missing 5% in the vanilla model of the card.
These suggested specs would indicate that the RTX 4080 Super would be slightly closer in performance to the RTX 4090, making it a tempting option for PC builders. That said, it’s best to take this information with a grain of salt, as even leaker Kopite7Kimi said he has doubts about the listed specs. Of course, you should expect the GPU to possess the ability to access DLSS 3, Reflex, and more.
The RTX 4080 Super will be replacing the standard RTX 4080 in Nvidia’s product lineup and will offer a competitive price of $999, which along with the improved specs will be set to challenge AMD.
